The Innovation

Foundation 2019 Q2

ISSUE 3 All the latest news from the Murphy Innovation Foundation

Our Innovation capability continues to grow from strength to strength. I am delighted to see the number of contributions in 2019 continue to rise, especially after our 100-day plan that aimed to increase awareness of the real results and actions coming out of our innovation focus. As a member of the ETF (Engineering Tomorrow Forum), I thoroughly enjoy hearing about all the excellent ideas that are being shared and submitted for review. It gives us a good feel of where some of the pressure points could be. I urge you to get involved, no matter how big or small your idea is, we want to help you to support the business. While our focus this year is very much on productivity and efficiency, we want to support our business growth and innovation maturity, so all ideas are welcome. As you can see from this newsletter, we have had a broad range of ideas - from Women’s convenience packs to virtual reality site inductions and modular bridges. The sum of these ideas adds more capability to the Murphy portfolio, allowing us to be a much more mature and capable contractor operating at the Tier 1 level. Discussing our capability with our peers, I am proud to say that our maturity for innovation is clear. But we need to continue to work collaboratively as One Murphy to get the best out of our Innovation programme. This is especially true for our major frameworks such as CP6 and AMP7, where collaborating to innovate for our clients will be an absolute must. I am also very excited to support the first of many innovation awards and look forward to celebrating with the teams and the winners in June. Innovation is a core part of our Continually Improve value, so please continue to support the Innovation Foundation and the business to achieve our goals. I look forward to reviewing your ideas in the future.
